Reflect: On my qualities

Think about what you could do to enhance any qualities that might need some work

I’m curious about the qualities I still need to develop. I’ve been committed to personal growth for most of my life. Change has been a constant companion, and I’m not afraid of it. My childhood was challenging, and as I sit here now almost full circle, in my childhood home I sometimes wonder how I moved through all of that and what has brought me to this point.

The qualities I want to strengthen are connected to study and learning. I want to deepen my understanding of theory and how it works in practice. I would like to think more critically, analyse situations more clearly, and apply accurate and appropriate care in each circumstance. I want to improve my academic skills writing essays well, reading instructions carefully so I fully understand the objective, reading faster, and retaining information more effectively.

I also want to refine my questioning. I’d like to ask the right question, in the right way, at the right time. I want my timing and attunement to be more precise, so questions arise naturally from presence rather than effort. I would like to cultivate greater curiosity and openness when exploring ideas and concepts. Learning the art of saying less and listening more deeply feels equally important.

For myself, I will continue peeling back the layers through personal inquiry and through my ongoing work with the Diamond Approach. I will also continue studying Somatic Experiencing and the nervous system, as both have profoundly changed me. I am a learner, and I love learning. It’s a quality I can’t suppress. My way of learning is more experiential than purely academic, and I’m comfortable keeping things simple.

How can I enhance these qualities? Perhaps by trusting that studying the masters, continuing my inquiry, and staying devoted to the process is exactly what I need to be doing.
